city of lights

the annual lantern festival was held at trout lake last night. thousands of people roam the greenspace down the street from our house, meandering with their home made lanterns in the night.

The were lanterns of bikes and paper bags and glass jars and papier mache and of spongebob and tealights and globes and ... everything you could dream of.

purist

i have trouble editing my images. like there's something dirty about cheating the crops of a shot, or adjusting the colour balance after the fact. i would love to have the perfect image every time... on the other hand, that flexibility that modern technology allows us is a new tool in and of itself. and one i have yet to come to terms with.

here's a picture i took at the beach last weekend. i had my head bent crooked so the horizon was 2 degrees off. so i rotated and cropped it. beauty.
